COMMENT:
Tottenham Hotspur host League leaders Chelsea at White Hart Lane in the Saturday late kick-off Premier League match with both clubs locked in their respective battles for the end of season finishes. Spurs are looking to gain fourth spot away from Manchester City and qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time (although they did compete in the 1961-62 European Cup and reached the Semi-Finals) while Chelsea face a challenge from Manchester United for the League title.
Spurs are fresh from a magnificent 2-1 home win over arch rivals Arsenal, which effectively ended the Gunners' title aspirations. The match on Wednesday night at White Hart Lane will live long in the memory of all who saw it and especially so for young Danny Rose, making his full Premier League debut, who scored an absolutely amazing goal straight out of the comic books. Reward for Gareth Bale's fine work this season came with his first goal of the campaign after Jermain Defoe set him up with an exquisite through ball. But the hero of the night for Spurs was Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who made a string of world class saves to keep Arsenal at bay.
Chelsea's last League game saw a solid 1-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers with Didier Drogba providing the cross for Nicolas Anelka's nod-in. Drogba's fine season has included 25 Premier League goals and 11 assists so far. The reverse fixture earlier this season in September saw a comfortable 3-0 win to Chelsea with goals from Ashley Cole, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba. Last season, Spurs finally ended a long winless League streak against Chelsea with a 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane thanks to a Luka Modric goal while the away fixture at Stamford Bridge resulted in a 1-1 draw with Darren Bent scoring for Tottenham.
This match is the second of three consecutive fixtures Tottenham are facing against the current Premier League Top 3 clubs. An away trip to Old Trafford is next up for Spurs on Saturday 24th April.
TEAM NEWS:
Harry Redknapp said he will wait on the fitness of 'one or two' players with knocks as he prepares the squad for Chelsea on Saturday.
However, the manager revealed that Aaron Lennon was not yet ready to return from his groin injury. The good news is that the winger took a full part in training on Friday. "It was great to see him out there again and it will be down to Aaron and how he feels," said Harry. "Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later and he'll be back in time to play a part before the end of the season." Also definitely missing are Niko Kranjcar, Vedran Corluka (ankle) and Jermain Jenas (illness). Wilson Palacios serves the second and final match of his two-match suspension. "JJ had a bit of a jog around today but he's been ill all week," added Harry. "Charlie (Corluka) has a protective boot on now for his ankle. He needed a painkilling injection at Wembley but he could be back before the end of the season." Harry said there was a chance that Ledley King could feature against Chelsea. Honduran Wilson Palacios will sit out the second of his two match suspension.
Chelsea's injury list includes Ricardo Carvalho, Branislav Ivanovic, Henrique Hilario, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien and Jose Bosingwa.

DAWSON ON CHELSEA:
Michael Dawson reflects on his rollercoaster week in Saturday's official matchday programme for the big one against Chelsea. The popular defender was on the floor, literally, after his slip on the playing surface at Wembley allowed Frederic Piquionne to open the scoring in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat against Portsmouth. However, the disappointment turned into jubilation after beating Arsenal on Wednesday night and Michael threw his shirt into the crowd, swept away with the emotion at the Lane. 'Daws' was in reflective mood as he discussed what will be his 200th appearance in a Spurs shirt if he features against Chelsea after joining us from Nottingham Forest in January, 2005.
"I've had a fantastic five-and-a-half years here," said Daws. "I've had a few hard days in that time but I've also had a lot of good days too and you have to remember those. Football is a funny game and that's why people love it. You have to cherish the highs because you know you are going to experience the lows as well. "Sunday was the biggest low of the season by a long, long way, but then what a night it was on Wednesday. It was heart-breaking at Wembley and to be honest, it still is, but beating Arsenal certainly makes me feel better."
MARK LAWRENSON'S PREDICTION (BBC):
The performance by Tottenham against Arsenal was a great reaction to what happened at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final. Can they do it again? I'm going to have to say no. The problem for Spurs is: can Ledley King play again? I doubt it. I just think Chelsea have got too much pace, power and nous. Not only that, but they've had an extra day's rest and Carlo Ancelotti can bring Florent Malouda, Joe Cole and Deco back into his starting line-up. Chelsea were a bit tense in the 1-0 win over Bolton, but that might have been the game that decided the title. They're now four points clear with a superior goal difference, and the closer you get to the finish line, the more you tense up.

Chelsea thumped London rivals Tottenham to move back to the top of the Premier League and continue their 100% winning start to the season. Jose Bosingwa hit the woodwork for Chelsea before Ashley Cole headed home Didier Drogba's cross at the far post. Spurs had chances too, and felt they should have had a penalty when Ricardo Carvalho clipped Robbie Keane. Three minutes later, Michael Ballack bundled home Chelsea's second goal and Drogba ran clear to wrap up their win.
Manchester United had briefly leapfrogged the Blues at the top of the table following their thrilling win over neighbours Manchester City earlier in the day. This derby encounter was nowhere near as eventful but underlined how much of a force Chelsea will be under new boss Carlo Ancelotti this season. Tottenham, who only suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of United last weekend, demonstrated why they are also flying high at the top of the table by taking the game to their hosts in the early stages. Indeed, after Bosingwa had smacked a powerful drive against the angle of post and bar from the corner of the area, it was the visitors who looked more likely to open the scoring.
Jermain Defoe should have done far better when he latched on to a ball over the top by Wilson Palacios but could only scuff his shot straight at Petr Cech. Tom Huddlestone also tested the home keeper with a low drive, before Jermaine Jenas fired inches wide from the edge of the area after Nicolas Anelka lost possession. But Chelsea, who have not lost at home to Spurs since 1990, gradually imposed themselves on the game - and having already gone close through a Frank Lampard header - Cole put them in front on 32 minutes. The impressive Drogba found space on the right and whipped in a teasing cross that Cole met with a diving header.
Tottenham suffered another blow at the start of the second half when Ledley King had to come off after suffering a hamstring injury as he tried to turn and chase Drogba. The visitors were then left bemused by referee Howard Webb's failure to award them a spot-kick when Carvalho's diving challenge sent Keane, who was bearing down on goal, tumbling. Keane was incredulous, chasing Webb and asking why he had not booked him for diving if no contact had been made. Tottenham's sense of injustice was increased when Chelsea scored their second goal with their next attack.
Drogba's snap-shot was well saved by Carlo Cudicini but Lampard reached the rebound and turned the ball back across goal for Ballack to turn it in. Five minutes later it was 3-0 when Drogba chased a long ball and Vedran Corluka's attempt to tackle him only succeeded in diverting the ball past Cudicini, giving the Ivorian an easy tap-in. There was no way back from there for Spurs and it took an instinctive save by Cudicini to stop John Mikel Obi from adding a fourth. Only a late calf injury to Drogba took the shine off Chelsea's day as they notched up a club-record 11th straight Premier League win and, given the role he played in his side's victory, Ancelotti will hope it does not prove to be serious. Spurs will also be concerned over Cameroon defender Sebastien Bassong, who was stretchered off after falling awkwardly and was later taken to hospital with a head injury.
