COMMENT:
Tottenham Hotspur host Fulham in the FA Cup Quarter Final (6th Round) replay at White Hart Lane knowing that a Semi-Final place against Portsmouth at Wembley on 11th April is up for grabs for the winner. The first match at Craven Cottage on 6th March was a cagy affair with few real chances for either team and a draw was probably a fair reflection of the overall play.
Spurs come into Wednesday's match fresh from a hard-fought 2-1 win at Stoke City in a match few gave Spurs much of a chance of taking all three points. That win extended Spurs winning streak of Premier League matches to four with Portsmouth next in line at White Hart Lane on 27th March. Tottenham's goals at Stoke came through Eidur Gudjohnsen, his first for Spurs, after a great through ball from Peter Crouch and Niko Kranjcar with his seventh of the season after Gudjohnsen dummied Benoit Assou-Ekotto's cross from the left.
Fulham were unable do Spurs a favour in their Sunday match at home to Manchester City, which they lost 2-1 with Danny Murphy scoring from the penalty spot. The West London outfit's previous match was probably one of the finest in their history, coming from 3-1 behind in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League to beat Italian giants Juventus 4-1 on a night few present at Craven Cottage will ever forget. That 5-4 aggregate win means Fulham will now face Wolfsburg in the Quarter Finals.
Fulham have never won the FA Cup but were losing finalists to West Ham United in 1975 with players like Alan Mullery, Bobby Moore and John Lacy in their team. Spurs have won the FA Cup on eight occasions and were losing finalists to Coventry City in 1987.
TEAM NEWS:
Harry Redknapp hasn't ruled out possible returns for Tom Huddlestone and David Bentley for Wednesday night's FA Cup quarter-final replay against Fulham. Both trained today (Tuesday, March 23) - Tom after being sidelined with an ankle injury since February 28, David after suffering a virus that kept him out of the reckoning for Stoke on Saturday. "One or two have a chance of being fit," reported Harry this morning. "Tom's getting closer. It's touch and go but we'll see how he is and it's the same with David, we'll see how they are after training. "Danny Rose could also possibly return after his knee injury."Unfortunately, Harry will be without the services of Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko (both hamstring), Aaron Lennon, Jermain Jenas (both groin) and Ledley King (thigh). On top of that, Younes Kaboul is cup-tied after playing in the competition for Portsmouth and Kyle Walker after playing for Sheffield United. As for Aaron and JD, Harry had positive news. "Aaron's done very well out with the fitness coaches and hopefully he won't be too long," he said. "I don't want to put a date on his possible return, because you never know, but he's desperate to get fit. Jermain's hamstring also feels a lot better."
Roy Hodgson's Fulham has Brede Hangeland out with a chest injury, Andy Johnson suffering with a knee injury and John Pantsil several weeks away from fitness with a PCL tear.

EIDUR GUDJOHNSEN ON FA CUP & FULHAM:
Eidur Gudjohnsen says every footballer dreams of playing at Wembley - that dream is one win from reality again as we face Fulham in an FA Cup quarter-final replay at the Lane tonight (Wednesday, March 24). Victory against Roy Hodgson's team will book a place against Portsmouth in the semi-finals on Sunday, April 11 and a third-successive appearance at the national stadium after our Carling Cup Finals of 2008 and 2009. And Eidur - who told us just how much the FA Cup meant to him before our fifth round clash against Bolton - can't help but look further ahead than that as he hunts down the medal that will complete his set in English football after bagging the Premier League title, League Cup and Charity Shield with Chelsea. "It's the one trophy missing on my CV," said Eidur, who bagged his first goal for us in Saturday's 2-1 win at Stoke. "It's a great competition and we've got a great opportunity now we're back at home. We have to go for the win and then Wembley awaits us.
"That's what every player dreams of, to play at Wembley and it's what the fans dream of as well, having a day out and not just that, going to Wembley with one eye on going back and winning the trophy." Eidur insisted there would be no underestimating the task ahead against Fulham in tonight's replay with players and management alike suitably impressed by the Cottagers' fantastic 4-1 win to beat Italian giants Juventus over two legs in the Europa League last week. "They've done really well," he added. "The evidence was there when we played them in the first game (a goalless draw). "They are a good footballing side with players who have improved a lot, especially Bobby Zamora. I have to give him credit, his all-round game is very strong and he's a big threat. "They produced an amazing result against Juventus and we know it will be a difficult game for us and one we have to be ready for."

Fulham and Spurs must do battle again for a place at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final after a deadlock at Craven Cottage. Roy Hodgson's side, seeking to secure their first Wembley appearance since they lost to West Ham United in the 1975 FA Cup final, created the better opportunities of a tightly-contested encounter short on clear-cut openings. Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomes ensured they survived to earn a replay at White Hart Lane with a faultless display that included outstanding saves from Zoltan Gera and Damien Duff in the second half. Fulham were rarely troubled at the back, although keeper Mark Schwarzer was tested by Niko Kranjcar's shot and Peter Crouch's header before the break.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will be the happier manager after securing home advantage with this draw, but Hodgson has fashioned a talented side at Fulham and will also go into the replay with real optimism. Crouch, fresh from his two-goal success for England against Egypt in midweek, was paired with Roman Pavlyuchenko in attack as Jermain Defoe surprisingly stayed on the bench. To say the first 45 minutes was unspectacular is to do the game a great kindness, with plenty of pretty passing but little or nothing in the way of excitement or serious goal threat. Fulham's Bobby Zamora tested Gomes low down with a shot from inside the area, while Kranjcar forced Schwarzer into a fumble. The Fulham keeper also needed to dive to his left to claw away Crouch's header.
Gera should have given Fulham the lead seconds after the break, but Gomes produced a fine instinctive save from his header after Zamora won an aerial battle in the Spurs penalty box. Gomes was called into action again five minutes later, but on this occasion he was able to deal more comfortably with Dickson Etuhu's headed effort from a Simon Davies corner. The caution of the opening period was forgotten as both sides pushed harder for the vital breakthrough, with Michael Dawson flashing a volley wide and Duff just off target with an angled finish. Duff was the danger man again after 63 minutes as he was the beneficiary of more excellent work by Zamora, but Gomes was equal to his 20-yard shot with a spectacular stop.
Zamora had worked tirelessly in pursuit of an opening and he was inches away from getting on the end of Chris Baird's searching long pass after escaping the attentions of the Spurs defence with 11 minutes to go. This was the signal for Redknapp to finally introduce Defoe at the expense of the subdued Pavlyuchenko as his tried and trusted partnership with Crouch was renewed. But Zamora was the man troubling Spurs as Fulham took the direct route over the top again, but this time the angle was too acute and he dragged his shot well wide of the target. It was the last chance of the game - and now the sides must do it all again on 24 March.
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson:
"I thought it was the correct result. Both teams defended exceptionally well and played some good football on a very difficult pitch that makes passing and ball control difficult. It was an exciting, fierce cup tie played in the right spirit and I don't think Harry (Redknapp) or myself could complain about the result. We don't feel we're out yet, we're just as capable of giving a good performance away from home."
Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp:
"A draw was a fair result, I'd say. We had a lot of possession, a lot of the game, but it was a fair result. This is a fantastic competition. Ask any fan, and this means a huge amount. We want to get to Wembley again, for sure. Will we be able to get some injured players back for the replay? I don't know about that - all our injured boys are out for six weeks or more by the look of things. But, hey, we'll see.
We're at home now, we'll look forward to it, but we know it'll be another tough game."
